Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners

SAFE-T System’s expert staff of telehealth Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (TeleSANEs) meet high standards of qualification and expertise. TeleSANEs are Registered Nurses or Advanced Practice Nurses experienced in the field of sexual assault forensic examinations. They are board-certified by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (SANE-A or SANE-P) and have passed a comprehensive background check.

SAFE-T teleSANEs are based throughout the United States and all maintain active nursing licensure in both their home state and the state where they provide telehealth support. Collectively, they have over 140 years of sexual assault exam and forensic nursing experience, conducted over 5,000 sexual assault examinations, and testified over 100 times in court. Each team member has a minimum of 5 years of independent clinical practice as a forensic nurse and has content expertise that they share through educational offerings. SAFE-T teleSANEs are selected for this unique role due to their strong desire to mentor and support new nurses in this field.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners are vital to providing access to quality sexual assault care. The SAFE-T telehealth model helps solve the concerns of local SANE availability by increasing the SANE workforce through tele-consultations, overcoming geographic barriers.
