Dr. Sheridan Miyamoto Receives Prestigious Grant to Expand Forensic Nurse Leadership Nationwide

We’re proud to share that SAFE-T System’s own Dr. Sheridan Miyamoto has been named a recipient of a Next Steps Grant through the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators at UC Davis. Six nurse leaders were selected for the award, each receiving up to $150,000 to advance their fellowship research over the next 18 months.
Dr. Miyamoto’s grant will fund the development of a Forensic Nurse Leadership Academy — a program designed to train and equip nurses to build and sustain sexual assault care programs in their communities. The goal is straightforward but vital: address critical workforce shortages and expand access to high-quality, trauma-informed care for survivors nationwide.
This recognition reflects what has always been at the heart of SAFE-T System — the belief that expert forensic care should be available to every survivor, no matter where they live.
